it would be interested if we have this sets of features coz for sure MT have no problem to act as a product management system where you can store entries and assign a specific category, applied additional information with custom field...etc but how bout to make the site ecommerce-enabled, have some feature like built-in payment processor (checkout, paypal integration maybe), link to some currency exchange site, link to any courier services to calculate the estimated shipping cost, shopping cart, and so on... got what i mean?

i believe this is possible, and it would be lovely if we have such thing! :D

The subsequent entries don't display the image, nor do they display the image when I go to the edit entry screen (though the first entry does.) Additionally, the images are being properly uploaded to the correct directory

The code that I'm using to display the image (field name "entryphoto1")and the image caption (field name "entrydataphoto1caption") is as follows:

I'm trying to upgrade movable type to 4.21 and it always runs out of memory when doing task "Assigning all permissions to blog administrator...". This was on a machine with 8Gb of RAM and a 6Gb swap.

This task applies all the new permissions to Blog Administrators or something like that. It goes through the mt_permission table. We have more than 3000000 rows there.

I was thinking as a workaround to just comment that part from the Upgrade.pm file. And afterwards just do some changes in the Blog Administrator role for the permissions to get calculated again.

BTW. I don't see any need for mtpermission table. It's just a join of mtassociation and a few other tables. It should be done with a view or something. Correct me if I'm wrong

It does that for a bit and then gets into an endless loop refreshing the status page every couple of seconds with the progress bar not shimmering like it normally does, but maybe 5% over. Looking at the pages on the server they are not being updated - I have no idea what MT is actually doing when it gets into this mode.

It behaves like it's publishing some entries and then some kind of timeout happens that causes it to go into this weird state/loop.

I'm going to start this thread again and see if I get a bite...

Can someone please explain to me why all of my author basenames are getting appended with an underscore and a number, generally one? For example: johnlennon would become johnlennon_1

So, if my author URL was http://www.site.com/authors/john_lennon/

it has been changed to http://www.site.com/authors/johnlennon1/

Not only is it unattractive to be an "author" on the site and have your name include a number that doesn't show up anywhere else, it breaks old links on the site (requiring a republish of the whole site to fix) and it breaks external links that have existed for years.

It also leaves me with 2 directories for the same author. The correct DIR, the one without an _1, now has stagnant data in it because it is no longer getting updated. We don't know when profile info gets updated, so we end up with internal link in which some of the links point to the _1 directory and others do not.

All external links generally point to the directory without the _1, which is the directory with outdated data, of course.

In other words, this is a REALLY bad thing.

I can go to the database and manually edit the basename to remove the _1. However, if the profile information for that author gets updated, the _1 gets re-added upon saving that profile information.

Is there a fix for this?

I have verified the following:

It happens regardless if there is only one person with that name. Every author gets this _1 added to their basename, which in turn gets propagated to URLs and directory names when using %a in archive mappings or using ArchiveURL in an ArchiveList

Removing the _1 via a direct DB edit will fix the problem until a profile update occurs. Even if nothing changes in the profile, clicking Save WILL change the author basename back to including the _1

I can find nothing to stop this madness.

Can someone explain more thoroughly how SSI and Caching works in MT?

Here's the issue I'm having. I have a "middle column" that I want to include - unaltered - on a number of pages. It's pretty complex and pulls from a lot of places, so I use caching and SSI. Here's the problem - from time to time, the data in this column just disappears the only way to get it to come back is to remove the caching code (I use in-template caching and ssi directives) and rebuild.

Here's an example:

Main Index:
This tag is also included in Main Archive, Pages, and Entry List.

The module "middle" contains another module called, "Dobson" ( a cartoon we run) Dobson is a VERY simple module that only contains an MTEntries loop that pulls the last 1 entry for Dobson by Category ()

So...Normally, this works just fine. In fact, 99% of the time it works just fine. But on some occasions, Dobson (and most of the other modules included in middle, but not all of them) are just empty. It's like the MTEntries tag just stopped working or something.

So I have to go remove the caching and SSI code, rebuild the page, and then put the code back in.

Can someone tell me what the hell is causing this?
