How to backup and restore global templates?

Vote 0 Votes

Hiya,

I am just in the process of re-installing MT Commercial 4.21, and I would like to export and import my blogs from former installations. So far, so good. I backup my individual blogs and import entries, comments and trackbacks. That works like a charm.

But my actual problem is the backup and restore of my global templates. How do I get those that I wrote for my former blog into my new system?

I hope that there is an automated way to achieve this.

Thanks in advance for any help.

All the best, Stephan Jaeger

  • http://mt-hacks.com/ has some plugins that may be of use to you.

Another option you have is this:

    1) Install 4.21 on the former installations. 2) Let 4.21 upgrade the database schemas. 3) Run the Backup process. 4) Put the backup files into the Restore process in your new blog.

That will allow you to rebuild your old blog, with the same templates, on a new installation of 4.21. Obviously, given the nature of this, you might want to also do a database backup in case the upgrade breaks something. However, the Backup file used in 4.0 and later will take your templates over to the new MT installation.
