User profile editing weirdness with Firefox 3.0.1

Vote 0 Votes

Whenever I go to edit a user's profile, the Website URL field appears pre-filled with the name of my Admin user account. Furthermore, when I try to save any changes, it complains that the passwords do not match. This is without having even clicked "Change Password" or touched the password fields at all. The only way to get the system to accept changes to a user account is to also change the user's password!

If I use IE, or switch to the IE rendering engine by using the IETab FF plugin, then it all works perfectly.

What is the accepted/recommended process for reporting issues or bugs such as this?

  • Good spot! I've noticed these (and I think it's related to Firefox's autocomplete) but thought it was only me :)

You can submit bug reports here, directly into the public bug tracker.

  • Man this one has been driving me nuts. It happens in FF2 as well. I was about to post and ask for the hidden config directive to turn this off.

Are you sure this is a FF issue, I have a similar behaviour where the url field is populated with the first admin user as listed alphabetically ("Caitlin" instead of "Dug" in my case)

  • I've got this on forms all over the place it's a bloody pain in the bum.

Tried changing field names, clearing them later etc etc, had to resort to detecting if FF is the browser and warning the user that they need to clear the first "change password" box. It's definitely not an MT issue! No idea what logic FF uses to autofill boxes and it's turned on by default so you can't just expect users to turn it off or know what it's actually doing.

Looks like Google Chrome does it as well, grrrr
