Images in Entries

Vote 0 Votes

I attempted to link a photo from my Flickr account to a blog entry. However, the photo doesn't show up in the entry once it's published; the entry only shows the code I entered to link to the photo. Are there some settings within MT4.2 beta that I'm missing, because I've been embedding images from Flickr in other versions of MT with no problem.

Thanks in advance.

  • "the entry only shows the code I entered to link to the photo"

What exactly does that mean? The only way I can imagine that would happen is if your text got HTML-encoded, which you'd have to tell the application yourself to do.

Can you post a link to where this is actually happening? What exactly is it you're doing to do this linking?

  • If I were to put the below in an entry and publish it; the photo doesn't show.

The only thing that shows in the entry, is the html coding itself.

  • Thanks Su!

Before coming to the forum, I actually changed my post to Textile2 and Markdown, and that didn't worked. I never thought to just create a new entry using one of the two. That was the problem; I was using Safari and RTE. I'll just make one of the other formats my default. Is there one you would recommend over the other?

  • When I have to use one I prefer Textile, but it's probably just because I learned some of it first. And only some, since my real preference is to just write the HTML.

If you play around with the two a little(Markdown, Textile), you'll notice they're near-identical in the way they work, and for the basics are pretty close in actual syntax used, so it's mostly a matter of just picking whichever turns out to be more comfortable(eg. Markdown's syntax for making a link is a bit more involved than Textile's).

Do spend a little bit of time reviewing both, as there is at least one definite inequality I know of: Markdown has no capacity for generating tables, leaving you to use inline HTML. On the other hand, I think the Textile syntax for them is so tortured that you'll end up writing HTML for them, anyway. But just as a heads-up that there may be other things.
