Hi,

I am trying to do an absolutely clean install of MT 4.2 on Mac OS 10.5.5. I’ve had an installation running on various Max OS’s up to 10.4 for years, but just don’t seem to be able to get it to work with 10.5.5.

I’ve installed mySQL and PHP and used MacPorts to install DBI and DBD::mysql.

cpan reports that both DBI and DBD::mysql are up to date, however when I run mt-check, it tells me DBD::mysql is not installed.

(The reason I want to do a clean install is that my templates have become a mess over the years as I started off when I didn’t know a lot about html and css. I am really looking forward to using the new 4.2 templates from scratch.)

I have installed all the Perl modules from CPAN and everything checks out there.

During the upgrade, my Firefox (v3 on Ubuntu 8.04) starts giving errors about running out of stack space. I have 3Gb RAM installed, so the problem is definitely with MT.

Out of memory

Not very helpful huh? (BTW, I'm hosting on Yahoo! and upgraded from their supported version, 3.x, quite a while ago.)

This only happens when I select to publish all files or only indexes. If I alter an already published blog entry and save it, the error happens after the publication process completes. Regardless of how I publish the site, the changes are always pushed out, so it seems like something is going wrong right at the end of the procedure.

Given all this, my question is what code is being used to publish the site? I want to debug that, and see if I can isolate the issue.

TIA!

I was getting a error on the top saying it couldn't find the config file, so I just created a mt-config.cgi file and left it in the folder. That made the error go away, but it hasn't affected the reason I'm here....which is: When I go to http://mydomainname.com/cgi-bin/mt/mt.cgi I don't get anything but a blank screen. Any ideas? I checked the event log on the server and I'm not getting anything that is relevant in there. I've never installed on a Windows server before, only Linux, so I'm not sure if I'm missing something simple. The only thing I need to mention is that the websites aren't located in inetpub. They are on the D drive for space reasons.

Hi,

I'm upgrading from 4.1 to 4.21 today.

I have run into a most perplexing problem.

The upgrade script ran just once (widget manager or something, i don't remember exactly), then went straight to the dashboard as if nothing had happened. I upgraded the same version of mt to 4.2 on another server earlier today and that worked without a hitch and it ran through all the lovely little things that it's supposed to say when it upgrades, but when this happened on the second installation (different server), it started to make me suspecious.

mt-check.cgi shows that i've supposedly got 4.21 installed but version 4.1 still shows at the bottom of the page and what's worse - my all templates have disappeared. But creating new pages and entries and rebuilding works without a problem (curiously, the final rebuild page shows the 4.21 rebuild page).

I have tried reuploading all the files again, to no avail. I DO have a backup but I would really like to avoid a fresh install which would involve redoing all my templates which are all EXTREMELY complicated. :(

I'm terribly confused! Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

Hi all!
I've some problem to install MT on my MacBook...

When i try to install MT on my web server after the login page, i've wait for 5/10 sec the welcome page but instead i've found this code:
[code]
#!/usr/bin/perl -w

# Movable Type (r) Open Source (C) 2001-2008 Six Apart, Ltd.
# This program is distributed under the terms of the
# GNU General Public License, version 2.
#
# $Id: mt.cgi 1174 2008-01-08 21:02:50Z bchoate $

use strict;
use lib $ENV{MT_HOME} ? "$ENV{MT_HOME}/lib" : 'lib';
use MT::Bootstrap App => 'MT::App::CMS';
[/code]

Maybe my perl don't work, but i've perl inside my Leopard installation!
In Apache I've changed my Document Root in /Volume/my/path/ but i've saw in the original Document Root "Library/WebServer/" a directory call "CGI-Executables", can I create the same directory in my new Document Root??

If the answer is yes, please can explain to me how can I do??? Because i don't want change the Document Root diretory, I've a lot of project inside and I don't want change all only for MT..

Thenk you for the help!!!

homepage.mtml

I found something in the support about this being the end of the template file names but have no clue how to correct it. everything else seems to be working fine. I tried switching templates and template layouts and republishing to no avail.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Strange that I get that error because mt-check.cgi is successful which is in the same directory as mt-upgrade.cgi. Is the installation trying to access a directory that is outside /MT?

Perl as been added to both the site configuration and website extensions to allow .cgi files to run. I've also read and followed the Windows installation guide on this site. Please let me know what I am doing wrong or what permissions/settings I have missed.
