I recently read Hacking Movable Type, the developer doc on mt's site.
http://www.movabletype.org/documentation/developer/hacking-movable-type.html

I am trying to build a plugin that creates a block template and have a bunch of questions. Rather than flood the forums w a bunch of posts I figure Ill post them all here and anyone who wants answer can do so here.

To keep it clean you can reference the quesiion with the # sign. ie if your answer is to question #4, then you would say '#4: {answer}' (just a suggestion)

Configuration Directives
#1, Are configuration directives values?

#2, Can there be multiple configuration directives?

#3, If configuration directives are placed in the mt-config.cgi file, what is the use of the config.yaml file?

#4, I'm confused about the difference between mt-config.cgi and config.yaml, how do they interact? If I wanted to load a few rss feeds to be processed later, would I set their values in .cgi or .yaml?

Plugin.pm files
#5, Im looking to create a plugin that builds a block tag. Can a plugin do this?

#6, Can a plugin call an external ruby web service?

Ruby Web Service
#7, What is required to call a ruby web service from a perl plug-in?

#8, Is there something already in existence that calls a ruby web service from perl?

Thats it. Any help?

I think the type on my site (I didn't design it, and I don't know much about it) is a little too small, and I have trouble reading it even myself. How can I make it larger? Why do the other buttons seem to work, but not those two? Obviously, I need plain language explanations, I'm by no means a coder and very new to having a web site. I really have to pick my battles with my designer, as his interests have moved on and he really doesn't want to be bothered at this point.

My server has the following configuration:
Server: Apache/2.0.55 (Red Hat)
Perl v5.8.5 with Crypt::SSLeay module v0.51
PHP v4.4.7 with Zend Optimiser v3.3.0 and PHP v5.2.4
Python v2.3.4
Ruby v1.8.5 with Rails v1.2.3 and eRuby (embedded Ruby)
MySQL v5.0.26
ImageMagick v6.3.4
GD v2.3.5
CURL v7.12.1
