I'm unable to upload pictures to my site -- can anyone help?

Maybe your hosting provider changes the parent folder permission or maybe the whole server path has been changed.
Check out what is your current server path and make sure that the "archives" folder is writable (eventually also its parent "blog" folder).

I just tried to publish a draft of a blog and got this message
mkdir /hermes/web04/b1606: Permission denied at /home/users/web/b1606/moo.thecathouse/cgi-bin/lib/MT/FileMgr/Local.pm line 104
I'm not a web designer so a lot of this is over my head! Help!
The problem could be either an ownership problem, or a permission one. If you could send me access to your server via email I could have a look.

The guys from your hosting company changed the server path and didn't mention anything about that to you.
They could have implemented symlinks if they would have cared about their customers.
