Free comments form is not visible

Vote 0 Votes

Hello, after installing MT and importing old entries I need to configure the system. The first step is to make comments totally free (no login and registration needed).

At the configuration > responses tab I have checked the "anybody" radio button. Then, I have rebuild the site. After that, I am suposed to get a visible comment form in the individual entries pages. However, the form is not visible and a login is required to send comments.

¿Why isn't it working? I think it has to be easy, but I can't find the solution. Could you please help me?

Thank you in advance.

  • Hi Aitor,

    The setting you've made is about displaying the comments, not about the commenting form.

    You haven't mentioned to me what version of movable type you are running.

    I am going to present below the right place where to set what you want to set for movable type v4.37 and movable type v5.12.

    1) movable type v4.37

    Go to:
    Preferences -> Registration

    And check the box:
    "Anonymous Comments"

    Then click "Save Changes" and make sure you rebuild your index templates, or at least the javascript one.

    2) movable type v5.12

    Go to:
    Settings -> Registration

    And check the box:
    "Allow comments from anonymous or unauthenticated users."

    Then click "Save Changes" and make sure you rebuild your index templates, or at least the javascript one.

    Kind Regards,
    Mihai Bocsaru

  • Hi again, Mihai!

    Thank you very much. The problem was solved with your guide and now works perfectly. Sorry about the MT version omission (was v5.12)

    Regards.

  • wow, thank you Mihai!

  • You are welcome!

    No problem about the version omission ;)

  • I have same problem. Thank you Mihai Bocsaru for your answer.

If you need to share template code, replace all the "<" signs with "<" or use this utility.
