I installed movable type and everything installed correctly. The entries post (I have two websites/one blog each), both work alright, except when I click on the comments page, (http://heart-glow.com/, http://hateyourway.org) then it goes into the 500 error. I tried chmod the entry which works until I publish a new entry and it reverts back. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Megan,
You may like to try and add to your mt-config.cgi file, from inside your movable type CGI Path the following directives:
DBUmask 0022
HTMLUmask 0022
UploadUmask 0022
DirUmask 0022
Eventually also:
HTMLPerms 0777
UploadPerms 0777
Then rebuild your blogs and parent websites once more.
Kind Regards,
Mihai Bocsaru

I'm sorry, I know nothing about CGI/Movable Type, What do you mean try and add to my config file? and from inside my cgi path?
You have to edit a file called "mt-config.cgi" that is available at: http://heart-glow.com/cgi-bin/mt/
So you have to connect with your FTP tool to that path, then to set your FTP tool to ASCII mode, to download the file "mt-config.cgi", then to edit it and add the lines I have provided you above.
Here they are again:
DBUmask 0022
HTMLUmask 0022
UploadUmask 0022
DirUmask 0022
HTMLPerms 0777
UploadPerms 0777
Next, you would have to upload the updated "mt-config.cgi" file to the path from where you've downloaded it.
Last, but not least, connect to your movable type admin from:
http://heart-glow.com/cgi-bin/mt/mt.cgi
And publish again your parent websites and children blogs.
Kind Regards,
Mihai Bocsaru
Now it's saying when I go to click on the pages, that it can't find the page (but in FTP it's there).
You may like to provide me FTP access to your server (via email) and I could check it for you.
My email address is available on my website, from the contact page.
Kind Regards,
Mihai Bocsaru

Got it! I had to change my archives to dynamic and leave everything else as static! =D Thanks so much for the help!
You are welcome!
Yes, you should keep the templates based on "Static" publishing.
Of course, you could change to dynamic, if you want, but if you do that, you should rebuild your blogs and parent websites so that a config file would be created on the root.
I would suggest to stay with "static" publishing, because that is the most important advantage of movable type, as a CMS.
I lied, I got it to work on heart-glow, but I can't get the archives to work on hateyourway. I will be indeed sending the login info if you could take a look at it?
You could get it working also there, if your templates are set to static also there and if you republish that website and blog.
I tried with hateyourway, but it's still giving me an internal error.
Then send me access and I will check it for now.
What I could tell without access is that you should publish that blog and it should work...
Okay, I sent you an email to the contact email address. I have no idea what I am doing; but now it's showing that some page doesn't exist, and it doesn't appear to be building my archives (but it's staying static and not changing to dynamic?)
I've got you up and running Megan!
Cheers,
Mihai
Fantastic! Thanks so much! If you wouldn't mind telling me what the issue was (so that I know for next time) and you are a life saver!!!!!
Again you've had some templates set to dynamic publishing...
I've set them to static publishing and made sure that this additional domain folder permission was set to 755.
Thanks so much! Glad to know what it was, I appreciate all the help!
You are welcome Megan!
