jQuery in MT 5.1 still at 1.4 - why?

Vote 0 Votes

I saw that jQuery 1.4 is part of MT5.1. Can I simply upgrade to 1.6.1 (the latest) or is that risky?
What was the original reason to go to jQuery 1.4.3 instead of 1.5?

  • Hi perlmonkey,
We were already at the middle of 5.1 QA phase when jQuery 1.5.x was released, and didn't want to redo again with the new version. On the production site, I don't recommend to replace it to 1.6.x since the new 5.1 features heavily depend on jQuery 1.4 API. But I'm very happy if I can hear your feedback of trying to update it in your testing environment :)

  • Sounds like a good enough reason to me :)
I will keep you updated whether I succeed to replace jQuery 1.4 by 1.6 in my tiny test lab.

If you need to share template code, replace all the "<" signs with "<" or use this utility.
