Textile problems with tables and lists

In Textile 2 mode, when I put this

Some text
| A | table |
| is | here |

The table fails to render. Instead I need to put a line in between

Some text

| A | table |
| is | here |

Of course, that leads to a different problem - a paragraph tag is placed around the "Some Text" leading to a line between the text and table.
