Scheduled & Unpublished Entry Template Tag

Vote 0 Votes

I'm trying to access the tags of entries.
The following will give me the tags of all published entries, completely skipping over scheduled and unpublished entries.

<mt:Entries id="$id">
<mt:EntryTags glue=", "><$mt:TagName$></mt:EntryTags>
</mt:Entries>

It looks like MT doesn't treat scheduled/unpublished entries as Entries.. It's ID doesn't get listed when I do

<mt:Entries>
<$mt:EntryID>
</mt:Entries>

However it will get listed if I just do

<$mt:var name="id"$>

Is there someway to access the tags of an unpublished or scheduled entry? A plugin or a mystery tag? Or am I going to have to write a plugin to do this?

  • Unpublished and Scheduled entries aren't supposed to be published by the Entries block tag. After all, they're unpublished or scheduled to be published for a reason. So, my knee-jerk reaction is to tell you that if you want to publish these, then you should mark them as Published.

    But, I'm guessing you must have some special need that somehow will make sense--in which case, yes, you'll need to write a plugin to do this (I'm not aware of an existing one to do it).

    I'm trying to make batch editing of entry tags easier.
    Below is 2 screenshots of what I've done so far, and my problem.

    Guess I'll get to making that plugin. Thank you!

  • Do the "add tags..." and "remove tags..." list actions not do what you want?

    No, because you cannot see what tags are currently there (or are missing).

  • But you can just use those options to apply any missing tags. There's no worry of double-applying a tag, so you can just blanket apply tags to entries.

    FWIW, I would look at extending the Batch Entries screen with the option to add/remove tags, and I think you can then use a cms_post_save callback to update the objecttag table as needed.

If you need to share template code, replace all the "<" signs with "<" or use this utility.
