Does anybody have the slightest idea when we can expect to see the MT5 documentation? I'm talking about the new template tags for websites v blogs and such. The stuff that's available in the "MT5 specific documentation" isn't terribly helpful for basic stuff.
Also many favorite plugins are borked. Dan Wolfgang's brilliant BetterFileUploader -- which should have been integrated into MT -- barely works on MT5, though it's seamless of MT4.x. Are they changes to some tmpl file that cause these errors? For instance, on BFU the cancel button now doesn't work on MT5. Is that a javascript problem, a code in the tmpl file or what? Can't figure it out.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry about the status of template tag references. I was not aware that the MT5 template tag references were not synced. I'll work on translation and make it available soon since it's already there in Japanese.

Movable Type 5 template tags are now available at the tag reference.

I also updated Movable Type 5 documentation home to list new and updated documents for MT5.

Many thanks Jun.
Forgive me if I find this a little disquieting. The tags were there in Japanese but not in English? Did we do something wrong to be shortchanged for two months? Not your fault at all, but is anybody at 6A thinking about THIS constituency?
I appreciate your quick response. But I think you'll understand our disappointment, a feeling of having been abandoned, especially since there's not even a hint of an official apology. Some of us have stayed with MT for over six years. I have paid licenses. I really didn't expect to be left out in the cold. It's not a nice feeling.

My Japanese is a little delinquent. Is there an English edition?
I am finding MT5 completely confusing - I have been using MT since 2004.
The documentation has been updated but it doesn't really tell us anything.
OK, I create a new page.
- how do I let users know the page is there?
- how do I add the page to the navigation bar?
Same idea adding a new blog.
- how do I let visitors to my main page know the blog is there?
- how do I add the blog to the navigation bar?
These are pretty basic operations and, as far as I can tell, there is absolutely nothing in the documentation that shows me how to do any of this.
I would really like a guide for existing MT users.
Look, as a long time user I don't want to be disrespectful, but the 'What's New' section really is a joke. It is probably useful for the developers but to have to go through every release to find out what has changed since MT 4 is quite unrealistic.
It seems you guys put a lot of work into updating the product but don't match that with real documentation.
A couple of weeks ago, I tried out WP for the first time. I thought it was something I should know about. The documentation standard there is on another planet compared to MT.
I like what you can do with MT. I like having so much control. But if I can't find out how to do simple things, it's not much use having control.
Please slap me over the wrist if this is out of line or it's been covered somewhere else.
If you look through this forum, you won't find many rants from me here. It's not something I do often.
regards
Chris
Hi Chris
I am totally with you on this. I wish there was a dummies guide to MT5.
I've found a kindle ebook about Movable Type. It's called "Blogging with Movable Type" and available on Amazon.com. It's "only" an introduction to Movable Type but it did help me to figure out a few things.
