I have an issue with tags. I am currently running MT5 with notes created using MT4 or MT5 either manually or using XMLRPC.
My problem is that I get duplicate tags for my entries (but searching for a tag return all the notes).
Example:

It looks like the "duplicate tags" happen only when using international characters (no duplicates for "tintin" but duplicates for "La rose écarlate").
Is this a bug? Is there a way to merge those tags (a script to run would be perfect!) ? I tried to rename the tags to force merging but this does not work (renaming duplicate A to A1 then back to A).

Run this first on your database to see if you actually have duplicate tag assignments or if it's MT:
select count(*) from mt_objecttag where objecttag_object_datasource = 'entry' and objecttag_object_id = $X;
where in your case, $x an entry id that you are seeing show up with duplicates. If the results are as many as you'd expect (half as many as MT is showing) then file a bug report @ movabletype.org/feedback.html
The problem is not a duplicate on one entry.
Test case:
1. create note TEST 1 with tag "testé"
2. create note TEST 2 with tag "testé"
The problem is that I will have two tags "testé" in the tag list and in the tag cloud. The best way to check that is to display the note and click the tag. In the "tags" column you will have two instances of the testé tag!
Result should be 1, I have 2!
