Comment form customization

Vote 0 Votes

Hello everyone,

I need to know if there is a way to constrain the number of lines of the text area that appears in the comment form. My website has quite a lot of users and comments which appear as long as they readers can go. The editor can't get through such a torment any more. I've seen the attribute words, but as i could understand, it was just to control the number of words being displayed after accepting the comment, not a way to make readers cut it short when they write.

Is such a thing possible? Should i go and dig between movable type's files?

Thank you in advance

  • Anisa,
As far as I know, there isn't a built-in way to be able to limit the number of words (or characters) a user can enter in a form. You can accomplish through some custom javascript, however.

If you need to share template code, replace all the "<" signs with "<" or use this utility.
