In the Mt 4.X versions when uploading an asset you were given options of whether or not you wanted to resize the image, whether or not you wanted the original sized image to open in a pop-up or another window, whether you wanted it left, right, center.
When uploading an asset in MT5 I am not given these options, not on any blog. Is there something I am missing? Any help would be appreciated.

Chelle, I just tried inserting an image in an entry on my copy of MTOS v5 and those options are definitely there after the upload itself has finished.
It goes from the page where you browse and choose the image file and click on upload to the one that says "File Options" in which you can enter the label, description, tags, and then choose display image, use thumbnail, link to full-size version in popup window and on the right side of that box choose, Alignment: None, Left, Center, Right.
Looks pretty much the same as MT4 to me. This is on a plain vanilla install of MT. The only plugin I uploaded was Ghostwriter to see it it worked with MT5.
i also tried uploading 2 images (1 gif, 1 jpg) with the insert file icon instead of the insert image icon, and in both cases, it was smart enough to recognize that I was uploading an image and give me the second page with all the options for images.
I'm not sure what to tell you to try but be assured that they options are there. They didn't get rid of them.
Sorry I've taken so long to reply to this. I understand that the options are supposed to be there. They USED to be there when I first installed it. They are no longer there for me. I don't know if something got corrupted or if something is no longer working.
I go to new asset, choose the file, choose the folder, then click upload. It then goes to tell me that the file has been uploaded. It does not give me the popup window that overlays to ask me if I want to make a thumbnail, use in a new entry or any other options. I simply need to know why. I've tried leveling up my permissions for the user name from the administrative login but it still didn't give me the options.
I can select an asset and view it but there aren't any options to do anythign with it. I'm thinking of reinstalling and I'd rather not have to go through that.
Something clearly changed. I can't think of any setting that you could modify from the unaltered MT admin panels that would turn off the asset management screens.
Have you installed other plugins? Have you installed other plugins that work with asset management in any form?
No. According to the installation guide it said NOT to overwrite MT4. So I created new folders, MT5 and MT-static5. I'm thinking I need to backup everything, uninstall MT4 altogether, reinstall MT5 on it's own and go from there. It's still pulling information from the MT4 installation and I don't know if doing this will mess things up.
I don't understand what you mean by "it's still pulling information from the MT4 installation."
You declared a new database, right?
Where do your CGIPath, StaticWebPath and StaticFilePath parameters in mt-config.cgi point to?
If it's to the MT5 and MT-static5 that you mention and you've declared a new db for the MT5 installation, I don't see how it would be picking anything up from your MT4 install.
They were pointing to the new folders for MT.
It doesn't matter though. I uninstalled both MT4 and MT5. Literally deleted all files and folders associated with both.
Then I downloaded MT5 Pro (instead of the OpenSource I usually get) and installed it.
While everything is (oddly) still there regarding entries and logins and passwords (all information, which I don't understand, was somehow transferred even though that isn't possible) I still cannot edit Assets after uploading. I deleted the photo I was wanting to make into a thumbnail and popup page and enter into a new post but the popup menu for it didn't appear and I can't find anywhere else that these options would be located.
I'm ready to go back to 4.3 if there's no answer as to why this would be happening.
You're starting with a clean, brand-new mysql db? And you filled in the brand-new database name in the Database name parameter in the MT5 mt-config.cgi file? (Along with the correct related DBUser name and DBPassword? )
To be honest, that's where I suspect the problem is. You're pointing at a database that you set up for your MT4 installation with your MT5 install. If you're using all new installs of the MT and MT-static directories, that's the only place where it could possibly pick up any info from your MT4 install.
Deleting the mt and mt-static files and folders associated with MT4 does not get rid of the MT4 database and you had to fill in something for the database name in the mt-config file for MT5.
If it's not that, then we don't have enough information to solve the problem.
