I just posted my first blog post in MT 5.0 (previously everything's been in 5.0 rc3 beta) and the Edit Entry page had this noticeable change to the right sidebar -- a big "Recommendations" box with all kinds of photos and "related articles" from something called "Zemanta".
What the heck is all this and how do I get rid of it permanently? I notice if I click "close" it goes away, but the next time I come to Edit Entry, it's open again. This is an unwanted intrusion / ad / distraction that this particular blogger could do without.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of it? I hope I don't have to go muck around with the source code.

Okay, I figured it out --- click on Display Options and disable Zemanta.
Geez, was that obnoxious, not to mention the privacy violation. I didn't give MT permission to let Zemanta know when I am editing an entry in MT.
One better though. Go to the system plugin overview and disable it from there, then it doesn't show up anywhere and can be deleted from the server.
Heya!
Sorry to hear that Zemanta is not the perfect fit for you. We understand that Zemanta is not for everyone, and made it easy to disable if you want:

Well, it wont work for me either. I don't have newsy sites. Mine are my dice collection, some games I play, and various others that have no reason to use such content.
I noticed even with it disabled in Display Options, the 'create new entry' still pauses and waits on a response from Zemanta.
@blueSunday
Sorry to hear that you are having problems! It sounds like your issue may be a "one-off" kinda case. Could you send us an email to support@zemanta.com so we can take a closer look?

I don't want it to work. I have the widget disabled. Yet, when I do a new entry, MT says it is waiting for Zemanta.
+1 more for no Zemanta. If SixApart and/or Zemanta wants to provide a plug-in on the MovableType Web site, that's fine w/ me; however, distributing it with the open source software package is not IMHO.
WTF, MT. Why are you subjecting users to this mandatory partnership, or whatever it is?? Serious Google Buzz right there.
yep, get rid, utterly pointless and it doesn't work because you have no idea what I'm writing about and it's none of your business anyway!
also, you cannot disable the plugin, there is no option to do on the plugin page
I would also like to disable (or better yet, completely remove) Zemanta. However, when I go to my Plugins page, I see no option to disable. Basically, I never ever ever want to see anything to do with Zemanta (the latest serious irritation is a Reblog icon in my posts, which I really want to get rid of). Can anyone help?
Thank you!
