I know about MT-Twitter, that does the opposite of what I want: that polls your Twitter account and slurps up any posts you've made there and turns them into posts on your blog.
What I want is a plugin that takes any new posts on your blog, and automatically creates a Twitter post along the lines of:
"New post: [Blog Entry Title] [bit.ly URL pointing to blog entry]"
to one's Twitter account via their API.
I haven't been able to find any such thing -- surely someone's written one?

Ok nevermind I just found this older topic that asked the same question:
http://forums.movabletype.org/2009/10/republish-post-titles-to-twitter-facebook.html
Seems like what people are doing is using Twitterfeed.com or a Japanese MT plugin.
p.s. Every time I search for the word "Twitter" when on MT's main Plugins page, I get an error. I had to go to Google to find MT-Twitter which is not what I wanted.
My Hastag Plugin http://www.composing-stick.net/projects/hashtag/ does that, you can also configure it to add hashtags to your tweet based on post tags or from a predefined list.
The latest beta also supports scheduled publishing.
Rob, is HashTag2.5Beta ready to shed its beta status soon? I'd like something more realtime than Twitterfeed, but can't use beta plugins.
Should be next weekend (13th-14th Feb). No one has raised any more issues with me so I need to update the documentation and zip it all up.
Once released I am going to start hosting the code on github.
This version is for mt4.x. A version that supports MT5 is next on my list.
Rob, I've just tested it on a 4.33 dev blog -- works beautifully. If it doesn't hang when the whale has failed -- something I can't easily test -- it will be perfect.
Thanks for making it.
Thanks for the info. IIRC it just doesn't tweet when the fail whale is near the shore.
Manflu pole-axed me over the weekend so I am a few days behind getting the final v2.5 out.
No hurry, get well Rob.
Hope you're well again, Rob.
I showed HashTag beta to a group of bloggers this week, they were wowed by the match of hashes to entry tags.
Now that they've seen the future they want it.
What's left to do for you to declare it cooked?
All I need to do now is update the project page and do the announcement post.
In the meantime here is the link to the final version http://thecomposingstick.com/projects/hashtag/HashTagv2.5.zip
Got it, thanks!
