Can't start a new topic

Vote 0 Votes

I am having a weird problem with starting a new topic by my community blog users.

Signed up users can comment, but cannot start a new topic.

I tried assigning all permissions to a user, after sometime he could start a topic.

But when i started revoking permissions one by one from the user, to find out which permission allows starting a new topic, it didn't work. After revoking all permissions from the user, the user still can post a new topic.

  • Are you looking at the user at a blog level, or at a system level?

    Looking from the system level should let you see all the permissions assigned to that user.

    I have couple of blogs within the system, and am looking for automatic assigning of, say, "contributor" role to newly signed up users, as it may get painful tracking each user to assign a role to start a new topic. Is there a way?

  • As far as I know only by coding a custom plugin for this

    Does this very forum enjoy a coded custom plugin?

    • In blog view,

      Manage->Users

      Click the add user to blog button

      Look for something like "(new user)"

      Assign the privileges you want to that.

      Be very careful about what you assign to it because **all** new created users on that blog will automatically get that role.

If you need to share template code, replace all the "<" signs with "<" or use this utility.
