Hi,
I had scheduled publishing turned on for awhile. When I introduced author pics to posts, I found they did not appear until after I had turned scheduled publishing off (for a different reason; see below). Pics seemed to work for system users that had MT access privileges (e.g. an Editor), whereas for users that signed up externally it wouldn't show up.
When doing a hard (immediate) publish on an entry, MT would often throw a Smarty error in the Visitor Stats plug-in, saying the mostviewed tag was unrecognized. It seemed to fix itself once my Cron job had run. I've turned off the scheduled publishing until I can resolve this issue. Mark at MT Hacks hasn't replied.
I'd really like to get scheduled publishing going again instead of relying on regular static publishing. Any hints? Thanks so much.

Hi Erika,
Mark Carey is on holiday until December the 7th.
As per your issue, I haven't seen such an error message and it shouldn't have something to do with the scheduled publishing.
Kind Regards,
Mihai Bocsaru
Hi Mihai,
Thanks. I sent him a message two weeks ago so hopefully I'll hear back in a couple weeks.
The error I got was:
Fatal error: Smarty error: [in evaluated template line 17]: syntax error: unrecognized tag 'mtmostreadentries' (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 580) in /nfs/c05/h01/mnt/70479/domains/...domain.org/cgi-bin/mt/php/extlib/smarty/libs/Smarty.class.php on line 1095
I think you're right, that it shouldn't have something to do with scheduled publishing, but since turning that off I haven't had a problem. I experimented with the module caching as well. Have you used this plug-in a lot? Any recommendations?
I should clarify the first question. The user pic in this instance shows up as the system's default even when the user has their own. Really not sure how to deal with that one.
Thanks!
Erika
Hi Erika,
That smarty error makes me think that you're using that tag (mtmostreadentries) on a dynamic template, but it is supposed to work only on "static" (or manual) templates.
The issue with the user pic seems an issue with that userpic template module. You will have to code it so that it works as you want it to...
Kind Regards,
Mihai Bocsaru
Hi Mihai,
I'm not using dynamic templates anywhere -- I'm aware it is not compatible with the plug-in. I had caching turned on at one point, however. I can't test it right now unfortunately as my server is giving me some grief.
I'm pretty sure I didn't alter that module but I'll double check!
Thanks much,
Erika
Mihai,
I'm just getting back to this again. After switching Scheduled publishing back on, I've noticed the URL for the image source of the user's custom pic is coming up as blogurl.com/mt-static/ and that's it. I tried both the original Userpic template and my modified version; same result.
What do you think would cause the system to render the mt:EntryAuthorUserpicURL or mt:AuthorUserpicURL incorrectly?
Thanks,
Erika
Has anyone been able to resolve this issue?
I've run into the same thing in 4.32 - when an entry is published via scheduled publishing / the publish queue the path to the Userpic URL is blank. When the blog in question is republished manually, the Userpic URL renders correctly.
Any insight on how to resolve this would be great!
Thanks,
Matt
