Hi,
I've got an archive listing template that outputs as an xml file that is then read by an application. I have two quick questions:
1. The default file output permissions appears to be 666. I would like to have it set automatically at 755 or 777. Is that possible to set within MT? If not, any ideas how to programatically (sp?) set file permissions?
2. I notice that every line of MT code is translated into a hard return in my XML file output. Any easy way to stop that behavior and keep my nested if/else MT statements? Or do I have put all the MT code into a single line?

DBUmask 0022
HTMLUmask 0022
UploadUmask 0022
DirUmask 0022
Make sure you upload it in ASCII mode ;)

Every hard return from your template(s) is converted in a hard return on the files generated by movable type.
