Search results by relevance

Vote 0 Votes

Hi,

Is anyone using Fast Search for search results? It's the only way I've found so far to list search results by relevance. Does anyone know of other ways or is Fast Search really easy to implement? I am running version 4.31.

Thanks,

Erika

  • Hi Erika,

FastSearch is now too difficult to implement, so I would strongly recommend you to use it as it is much better than the MT native search function.

If you cannot handle it, you could have a consultant like me implement it for you.

    Cheers,
    Mihai

  • Hi Mihai,

What do you mean by it's now too difficult to implement? Your answer seemed contradictory ;)

  • I installed it, Mihai, and it broke things like my Manage > Tags page, and the results were coming back inconsistently (breaking, not displaying all results despite my settings, etc.) It just seemed to be major bad news, so I think we'll install a Google search soon.

  • Alright, Google search is either bad or worse in terms of customization and usability, and incredibly time-consuming.

    Has anyone successfully used FastSearch?

    Thanks,

  • Hi, Erika,

I implemented a "Google Search" to my MT's information website, "MTJ".

    http://www.mt-j.info

You can access to the website and check my implementation way.

Advertising message will be displayed automatically in result page, but I think it is acceptable bounds.

Please see it when you have time.

  • Hi Nick,

That looks pretty good despite the Google styling. (The site I'm working on is a non-profit so ads aren't required.) It WORKS which is farther than I got. You used the Search Element option instead of the iFrame right?

    Thanks!

If you need to share template code, replace all the "<" signs with "<" or use this utility.
