Usually, our site takes about 10 minutes to publish. When we add the Tag Cloud, it takes 2-3 hours to publish. I haven't been able to find any documentation on this. Can anyone help or let me know possible reasons for this?

Jackie, are you including this in a sidebar on many templates? If that's the case, it is being rebuilt for every archive or index that template affects. I'd recommend using template module caching in this case (see the ultimate guide to template caching for more information).
