Refeed Lite not working

Vote 0 Votes

Hello,

I am trying to pull feeds from other sites using the Refeed_Lite plugin from http://mark.stosberg.com/blog/2008/09/refeed-lite-a-movable-type-plugin-to-republish-feeds.html
Installation seems to be okay and I can also configure the plugin in the settings panel of the plugin. However, when I insert some (valid and full) feeds in there, nothing happens and none of the entries in the other feeds are posted. This plugin should normally do its work while republishing the site. There are no errors in the Activity log, and there are also no error reports in Apache error log.

Does anyone know how to get Refeed_Lite working? Am I missing one simple step? And how can I debug MT plugins, are there special logs etc?

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,
Jonas

  • Jonas, in order to publish items from refeed_lite, you need to make sure that you are running the run-periodic-tasks (rpt) job (found in the tools folder). This is done most often as a cron job, either at the command line or the control panel of your host, typically once per hour. This will schedule the refeed job to pull the feeds for you, and you'll start seeing messages appear in your log (and entries in your blog).

That may not answer your entire question, because setting up the job is another item, but that's what you'll need to do. Let me know if you need more information than that.

  • Hello Chad,

thank you for your answer - this was exactly the missing point I was looking for. After setting up my blog for using the background publishing queue and starting run-period-tasks manually on the command line, Reefeed_lite starts appearing in the Activity Log - unfortunately with an error:

    Check for updates to feeds (Refeed Lite)': Can't locate XML/FeedPP.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/cgi-bin/movabletype/extlib /usr/lib/cgi-bin/movabletype/extlib /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.8 /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.8 /usr/share/perl/5.8 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at /usr/lib/cgi-bin/movabletype/plugins/Refeed_L ite/refeed_lite.pl line 43

When I added the specific library path for this plugin (use lib '/usr/lib/cgi-bin/movabletype/plugins/Refeed_Lite/extlib'), everything worked fine.

    Thank you for your help!
    Best regards,
    Jonas

If you need to share template code, replace all the "<" signs with "<" or use this utility.
