On installation all files have been placed in correct location and mt-wizard loads and mt-static when loaded in a browser is OK but the wizard cannot locate mt-static directory in the static web path.
I'm on shared on Fused Networks.
Any ideas?

This happens on hosts that have strict security policies sometimes. The solution is to upload your own copy of mt-config.cgi. Follow this newbie's example. He had the same problem and wrote up an example of how to fix it.
You can make the changes on your PC and just upload them by FTP.
