Hello...I sorely apologize for the fact that I am a blatant newbie to Movable Type.
However, my business was interested in diving into the social media forray, and in particular developing a blog that had great community features.
After hearing about Movable Type and that users could create profiles and interact with one another, I thought this platform would be the perfect fit.
With no way to test the program out, I looked at the blogs (sites IMO) that were listed on the featured page (ie: Britney Spears and Obama) and was very impressed with the community features Users could have full-on engaging profiles similar those of many social netowrking sites, which is exactly what my company wanted to include for our blog.
After paying for, downloading and installing, I can't seem to find out how to get this feature started. I can post blog entries of course and users can register (well, kind of, our programmer is fixing that bug.) However, the most our registered users seem to be able to do is comment. Where are these community/social networking profile features? Is it something we have to turn on or get a programmer to design?
Perhaps I misunderstood, but I thought when you paid for the business license and downloaded Movable Type Pro, you got these features for 5,000 profiles.
Thanks for clarification.

Information on the community solution can be found here http://www.movabletype.org/documentation/community/
Also this http://www.movabletype.org/documentation/motion/
First, make sure that you have a directory at MT_DIR/addons/Community.pack and that it has files/directories in it. If not, then you do not have the Community Pack installed (you can also look at the bottom of any page to see this).
Second, make sure that users are registering/logging in via the Movable Type authentication choice and not Gmail, OpenID or the others. Those are the only users that can have a profile. The other choices are just for commenting.
Thanks so much for the info.!
