Hi, we have the problem that ocassionaly we need to edit posts in our RSS feed. How would we go about doing this in Movable Type?

  • By editing the posts in the Movable Type CMS. The RSS feed is generated by Movable Type from your entries.

I get that but I still see entries I have erased in my RSS feed. I need to know how to erase those

    • What exactly are you calling your "RSS feed?" There are two most likely possibilities for what you're talking about, one of which is what Mike is getting into, and the other of which is wrong:

      1. The actual file on the server which is being generated by your template. If you still see the edited/deleted posts there, then the template isn't rebuilding and we can continue.
      2. The display in your feed reader. If this is the case, then that means the reader has already fetched and stored the feed, including the old post, and it's now out of Movable Type's hands(or any other CMS, for that matter).
  • Sounds like your RSS feed isn't rebuilding then. Check the publishing setting on that archive template. If it isn't dynamic, static or publish queue, then that's your problem.

    • This doesn't make sense. If the template isn't rebuilding, then the post to be deleted wouldn't have shown up in the first place. I think Jesse is trying to remove items from the end client. See response above for clarification(hopefully).

If you need to share template code, replace all the "<" signs with "<" or use this utility.
