Importing images via cron job

I just imported over 500 WordPress entries into a Movable Type blog. When I was performing the import, I saw a line in the interface that suggested using a cron job to import images from the web server, but I can't find any documentation anywhere that actually shows how to do this. Does anyone have an idea where it might be?
