I have done the basic file installation and can log into the set up process however upon putting in the following data base information type: My SQL Database server: localhost Database Name: photoboothuser User: User Password:***** I get this error. Connection error: Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock’ (2) at /home/content/r/o/l/rollandelliott/html/cgi-bin/mt/extlib/Data/ObjectDriver/Driver/BaseCache.pm line 320 at /home/content/r/o/l/rollandelliott/html/cgi-bin/mt/extlib/Data/ObjectDriver/Driver/BaseCache.pm line 320
I created the database using GODaddy’s Hosting control panel. when I click on the manage link next to the database it shows the following information.
Status: Setup Host Name: p3nl50mysql27.secureserver.net Database Name: photoboothuser Database Version: 5.0 Description: Movabletype User Name: photoboothuser
I am at a lost as to what to try next. Please help me install this awesome software!
Reported on Movable Type 4.2

it seems there are two support forums currently and the older forum has a partial answer to my question, It seems to involve a lot of editing of files so I'm wondering if you tech gurus could look at that post and tell me if it is worth it or if I should just say to heck with it and host the domains I want MT on using 1and1.com instead?
Godaddy has a lot of issues, and 1and1 seems to not be a lot better. I recommend Hosting Matters. They may not seem as competitive on the amount of bandwidth and space you get for your money, but their service is much better than any other host I've used or what I've seen here with users complaining about 1and1 and Yahoo. I've used them for a few years now without any problems like this. Plus, their tech support is actually very fast.
I was using the wrong database name as well s the wrong host. here is a copy of my post under the old forums. It actually worked fine once I fixed those two mistakes.
After investigating this further I have found the following out
I am using godaddy's delux hosting which is around $50 or $60 a year.
They DO HAVE the necessary perl scripts!
When I installed the database I got the following information.
My only mistake is I did not have the unique host name entered instead of the generic host name.
The lesson learned is that even though the above posts were good intentioned their information was not accurate.

Good to see that it seems to be working for you. I know switching hosts can be a PITA. For me, it was worth it when I switched from Dreamhost to Hosting Matters.
I'm with LiquidWeb -- no single issue whatsoever... And my other host -- Pair -- is a preferred hosting partner of MT.
