Styles missing in Style Catcher

Vote 0 Votes

Is anyone else experiencing this error when using Style Catcher?

When selecting MT4 Style Library I get this: Error loading themes! -- Invalid URL: http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/styles/mt4/library

When I select the professional Website I get this: Error loading themes! -- Invalid URL: http://myurl.edu/mt-static/addons/Commercial.pack/themes/professional.html

Not sure what to do to get it to work?

  • Well, it would help if you posted the actual url instead of myurl.edu. What does your Activity Log say, both for the blog and system views?

  • Not sure why you would need my URL to see what the problem is.

The url is my work place url. So in other words you could replace the URL with your own MT4.2 install URL. When I go to the URL is error the page says:
"This is the Professional Theme set."

Both Activity logs triggers no errors.

  • Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me?

  • Same problem here, and the fix is to install HTML-Parser as suggested here: http://forums.movabletype.org/2008/08/style-catcher-returns-invalid.html#comment-6509

Too bad this module isn't listed by mt-check.cgi, and at least the error message should be a little bit more explanatory because it's misleading :-(.

  • Thanks a million for replying to me! This solved everything (thank God for Macports)!

I was wondering why my linux install worked and my OS X install didn't. I didn't think that it could be a perl dependancy because MT didn't complain about it when installing.

Is this considered a bug or just something that is "commonly already installed"?

  • I am running into the same problem, but HTML Parser is not fixing the problem.

Specifically, I have a clean install of Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) with Movable Type Pro 4.25 with Community Pack 1.62, Professional Pack 1.3 (upgraded over a clean (empty) install of MT 4.23).

Ubuntu has an HTML Parser, but this obviously did not resolve the issue. I downloaded and installed the latest HTML Parser (3.60) and that did not resolve the issue either.
I then checked the dates on these posts, and found the version that was current at that time (3.56) and installed that instead - in case some later issues arose - and that did not help either.

    ------------------------------------
    Additional information - if required:
I have also reinstalled at first one at a time, and finally wiped everything and completed a comprehensive reinstall: OS Apache, MySQL, PHP and MT (4.23 installed from Ubuntu, upgraded to 4.25).

I do have comprehensive MT archives, but I did not upgrade them; they are stored offline, with the plan to later restore the database, so right now the DB has only the "starter" post in there.

    ------------------------------------
    Details (quoted from another poster):
Create first blog from Professional Website Template Set.

Navigate to Style Catcher: Design -> Styles (cgi-bin/mt/mt.cgi?_mode=stylecatchertheme&blog_id=1)

    Select 'Professional Website' from Categories

    MT returns error:

"Error loading themes! -- Invalid URL: http://www.my-domain.com/mt-static/addons/Commercial.pack/themes/professional.html"

However the files exist at that URL and Apache can serve them if called directly.

If you need to share template code, replace all the "<" signs with "<" or use this utility.
