when I'm writing an entry, all of the icons along the top of the box seem to work fine, but the make type bigger, and make type smaller icons don't do anything at all. I think the type on my site (I didn't design it, and I don't know much about it) is a little too small, and I have trouble reading it even myself. How can I make it larger? Why do the other buttons seem to work, but not those two? Obviously, I need plain language explanations, I'm by no means a coder and very new to having a web site. I really have to pick my battles with my designer, as his interests have moved on and he really doesn't want to be bothered at this point.

Post a link and I can point out where in the CSS you need to change it to affect the font size globally.
Also, when you say the font +/- buttons aren't working, are you using the default MT editor and does it change in the edit box, just not on the published page?
