One of the things that's keeping me from jumping over to MT from WP is WP's ability to include photo galleries within posts. Is this possible to do in MT with a plugin?

Hi Mike, thanks for posting.
This isn't quite the same thing as WordPress's gallery feature. With their gallery feature, I can create galleries and place them within individual blog posts. This plug in seems to create a separate photo gallery that is based on MT.
Yes, what Mike linkes is for creating a blog AS gallery, not really for embedding. I think what you're looking for is closer to Arvind's Asset Gallery plugin.

I went with Movable Type over WordPress because I've been using TypePad for a long time and wanted to take the next logical step with my next publication. However, I'm amazed that Movable Type is lacking this funcationality. Not because it's something that WordPress has, but because it's something that almost everyone that blogs professionally actually uses. I certainly hope that MT isn't waiting for the developer community to get this one done as I've found the ability for the dev com to execute well thought out gizmos that can survive new versions of the software to be lacking.
Arvind's looks interesting, but I don't want a 3-d sliding gallery, I just want to attach thumbs to a post in a way that's more flexible than relying on my editors to manually position things. Also, I've had enough bad experiences with 3rd party plug-ins to avoid one like Arvind's where not a single person has posted saying it a) works, or even, b) works well.
If my experience with it last night, testing it out on an installation of Movable Type I use for experimentation is any indication, then your fears would be justified. For the life of me, I couldn't get the bloody thing to work.
