Serious Install Issues. Litterally, all gone wrong!

Vote 0 Votes

Hi. I am trying to make the switch from wordpress to MT.

Here is what's going on: 1.) I copy said files to /cgi-bin/mt/ 2.) I copy mt-static contents to / (root) 3.) Run install, everything is working properly. 4.) Work from the dash board, do some regular tasks, make a post. 5.) This is where things get bugged. The theme switcher goes away, and no themes. Some of the information windows on the dashboard show error messages. It varies. I've attempted several installs.

Of note: I am installing on a freshly created account on a VPS server hosted by Liquidweb. I am transferring the files in AUTO mode with Filezilla for Vista. I even tried an all ascii, but things got even weirder with image issues.

Any more tips or help would be greatly appreciated. I really really want to begin using this software.

Thank you.

  • Rather than copy the contents of mt-static to root try copying the folder so you have root\mt-static (don't forget to update yout mt-config)

  • You know what, that worked. I can't believe I couldn't figure that out. Eek. Question - from a web/coding standpoint, is it kosher to keep non-mt static folders in the cgi-bin directory, or should I create an MT directory in root and give it perms to run cgi?

  • What I normally do to keep sane is have all the non mt-static in their own folder, on one site I have

    root
    root\mt-static
    root\mt

    on another I have

    root
    root\mt-static
    root\cgi-bin\mt
