RC4 Big Problems

Vote 0 Votes

Having big problems with RC4 and templates.

There is no longer the option to select the template type, only option is "Custom index template"

References to templates in the default set from rc3 (MTLink) no longer work, "recent_feed" caused an error on publish and "style" suddenly pointed to something else.

Not delved further, but these are enough to make me want to go back to rc3

(Apologies if this is cross posted, i didn't select anything in the "forum" box below and my message didn't appear anywhere. Interetsingly tho, there was no error or warning that I should choose the forum. Also I clicked "start topic" from the Beta forum, so it should select it for me.)

  • I can't duplicate the template type problem.

What are you referring to as the default template set? (Set name, please.) The odd thing is that some template identifiers have been changed; I specifically remember the feed one in particular. But I seem to recall it happened prior to this RC so if anything you should've run into this already. Did you just refresh your templates this time, or something?

Are both of these problems reproducible when you create an entirely new blog? I'm assuming this is occurring in an upgraded one.

Not delved further, but these are enough to make me want to go back to rc3 Well, realistically, if that's your response to this, it should make you want to go back to 4.1x and wait grin

  • heh, well yes I could play it safe, but I've not had issues like this before.

I'm using the "Professional Website" templates, I refreshed at rc3 and not at rc4 (as i've made so many changes here and there i was just going to wait until final to do it again). All "MTLink"s are not working now, and when i create a new index template in an existing blog i only have the option for "Custom Index Template". On a new blog I have them all.

  • so... any ideas from SA? Refresh templates?

    • Richard, I'd love to determine and help fix the issue you're experiencing.

To help me can you reply with a step-by-step guide to reproduce the issue you're having?

Also, refreshing templates will definitely fix your issue.

  • I am unable to even add a topic in this forum, it says permission denied??

  • Yes, I can not add a topic and have a technical issue with the beta. How can I post a topic?

  • @kervol and @Shadowhelm: I'm sorry for the problems you've been having. The issues should be resolved now.
