Brand new MT user, modestly technically-inclined. I think I've uploaded, installed and configured MT correctly but when I go to log in to the admin console to create an entry, I don't see any of the WYSIWYG button icons. Same goes for other screens like template selection, etc.

The URL you provided does not resolve. But let me try too guess what the problems might be.
1) Check your access and error logs. They may indicate either missing files, or permissions problems. Both of which are possible.
2) If the files are not there, then try reuploading the files MT's mt-static directory. If you uploaded via FTP it is possible your upload got interrupted or did not complete successfully. Reuploading should resolve the problem then.
