[Action Streams] Repeated Google Reader items in sidebar

Vote 0 Votes

Hi, I am actually using the short widget example found on the read me file and what I get is a long list of repeated items. You can see the code here

http://pastie.caboo.se/153342

and the result on my testing blog here.

As you can see from the sidewar widget "ActionStreams" the first 8 items show a Google Reader's repeated item (this may change based on actual activities) and the last 2 items show "real" actions hapened today.

Anyone who can explain where I am wrong?

  • Hi, giusec!

I don't see that anymore on your site, but that's the normal behavior for some streams, as the plugin can't determine the correct times for those strams' events. Google Reader doesn't provide when you shared an item, for example, only when the original author posted the item. Action Events has to guess the time based on when it first saw it in its collecting.

This is why those events are hidden at first (marked with the yellow exclamation point). Unhiding them makes them show up in your action stream, which may not be what you want on your site, so you have the option of leaving them hidden.

  • Thanks, Mark. In fact, I decided to unflag the Google Reader stream because of the multiple items flowding my stream (and my blog page). So, let me rephrase to see if I got your answer correctly: I can manually fix the behavior going to the stream list and making the repeated items hidden.
