Anyone know what the Community Solution costs?

Vote 1 Vote

I currently have the commercial version and am wondering what the Community Solution costs. Does anyone have an idea?

I've been considering to build out a forum and have thought about purchasing vBulletin. I'd just hate to have my users have separate userid's and logins for my site and forum.

  • Right now I have that same issue. Separate logins for vBulletin and my MT powered site.

    I e-mailed them for a quote and it was around $1200 :o
On the good side of the news is that i read a persona licence for MTCS is gonna be released

  • I also sent in a question regarding the Community solution, but have yet to receive a reply. Its possible that the price depends on the size of your community or they would have set a price on the website...unless they think they'll get more requests for it if they don't put up a pricetag of 1200 USD ;)

  • Sorry for the slowness in replies to your requests -- the Communitiy Solution team has just been slammed. Right now, the pricing for business licenses of MTCS does depend on the number of community members you think you'll have, and the personal license that Carlo mentioned will start around $350 or so.

If you go with MTCS for your forums, you automatically share a login with MT, or if you use MT with another bulletin board application, you may be able to integrate them using OpenID, if the other tool supports it.

  • Does anyone know the pricing on non-profit, I'm trying to estimate a rush job and the lack of published prices is a pain given the slow response time. Anyone already rec'd that info?

  • Thanks for the update Anil. I've been trying to integrate my IP.Board with my MT OS using OpenID but I can't find a way that satisfies me. This is for several reasons. The first being that my board already had 400+ members, so I don't know how to get all of those to OpenID without having the users create new accounts. Second, my members aren't really that wise around the internet; They really don't care about new technologies or logging into other sites.. I don't want them to create an OpenID user elsewhere and then have to login using a url. Is there a way to run my own OpenID server to have all of the members on my own site and have them login with just their username (just on my site, they could login with a url elsewhere if any of them ever learn about OpenID)

  • The "Movable Type Community Solution" has been rolled into "Movable Type Pro" with the release of MT 4.2. Check out our pricing and licensing page!

If you need to share template code, replace all the "<" signs with "<" or use this utility.
