News outlets and other intrepid MT users are starting to piece together news and information about MTOS. And low and behold, MTOS is more then they thought it would be. More open. More complete.

Is it possible that the Movable Types Forums be included in the MTOS release? Also, can we convert our current MT installation to the Open Source version?

Byrne, according to that article, MTOS is apparently identical, or at least very similar, to the paid version of Movable Type. Can you tell us what is different? What does MT have that MTOS doesn't, and vice-versa? I don't necessarily need a line-by-line feature list, but can you at least give us a ballpark explanation of the advantages of using either version?

That article provided some information but raised more questions. Will MTOS effectively be an GPL'd fork of MT 4.0? Will SixApart contribute code to MTOS, or will they focus on only developing/supporting MT, MTES, and MTCS?

This is all a little confusing right now.

Can I confirm & clarify that the initial code in SVN (release 26) is the same from which the nightly builds are now following, if so (which I imagine it is) who is currently 'contributing' is it SixApart?

@apidevlab - the current nightlies are being built from SVN. The only active commiters right now are people from Six Apart, but lots of people are contributing via the mtos-dev@sixapart.com mailing list. Would you like to learn more about contributing?
